• Saposhnikovia Root has a warm qi, receiving the spring wood qi of heaven and entering the liver. Its taste is sweet and non-toxic, obtaining the earth's central soil flavor and entering the spleen.
• The phrase "mainly treats severe wind" serves as a summary, detailed in the Morinda annotation, and will not be repeated here.
• Wind damages the yang position, causing headache and dizziness. Wind injures the skin and hair, resulting in aversion to wind. Wind harms the empty orifices, leading to blindness. Wind moving throughout the body refers to wind in the meridians and collaterals. Joint pain is due to wind in the joints. Heaviness in the body is caused by the inability to move swiftly due to severe wind. The sweet and warm dispersing nature of Saposhnikovia Root can comprehensively treat these conditions.
• However, the warmth belongs to the harmonious qi of spring, entering the liver to treat wind; especially wonderful is its sweetness entering the spleen, nurturing the earth to harmonize the wood qi, making its use uniquely divine.
• This principle can be verified through the Yi Jing, and can be understood through the hexagrams of Bo (剥) and Fu (复). When both earth elements collapse, it is Bo, hence serious illness must consider the spleen and stomach; when wood and earth do not conflict, it is Fu, hence the turning point of illness must harmonize the liver and spleen.
